Hub Virtual School (Kindergarten to Grade 12)
An online school where kindergarten and grades 1-9 students can access full-time, quality education delivered by a dedicated teacher. New for the 2022-2023 school year, we will offer high school core classes for students in grades 10-12, and select electives.
Students will have access to scheduled classes from their “homeroom” teacher/teachers whose only focus will be to teach the students in their at-home learning class. Teachers will deliver lessons, engage in group work, provide individual support and help families assist their children with at home learning. While assignments will be submitted via Google Classroom, students of Hub Virtual School will not be tied to their electronic devices and will have opportunities to move around and engage in their learning in hands-on activities. All the while, their teacher will be directly engaged with them throughout the school day.
The program will offer:
- Dedicated teacher for each class
- Daily LIVE instruction in google meets
- Google Classroom as our base student platform
- Rigorous and Relevant curricular instruction supporting the entirety of the Alberta Program of Studies in our core subject areas taught by subject area experts
- Option programs for our Junior High school students
- Health and Wellness supports
- Student interactions and Social opportunities through classroom instruction and clubs
- Recorded lessons
Students will be expected to:
- Attend class with their teachers daily
- Have reliable technology
- Have reliable internet access
- Participate, engage, and have fun
High School courses:
Hub Virtual School has expanded and will include core academic classes and select options courses for students in grades 10 – 12, starting in the 2022-2023 school year. High School programs will be taught in real time, through live, virtual instruction with dedicated teachers. All courses at Hub Virtual School will meet high school graduation requirements.
Medicine Hat students will have an opportunity for dual enrollment* with either Medicine Hat High School or Crescent Heights High School. Classes will run on the semester system, allowing a maximum of 8 courses per year. Upon registration approval, families will receive a course selection form and timetables will be sent at a later date.
*Please note: Although all courses at Hub Virtual School will be done virtually and can be accessed by any student who resides in Alberta, we can only provide dual enrolment to students who are able to attend their classes in person at a Medicine Hat Public School Division high school.
If you select to register your child at Hub Virtual School, you are asked to make a commitment for the whole school year. We will not be able to accommodate requests to transition back and forth between brick and mortar school instruction and online instruction.
